Going back to re visit the Ulupo Heiau also meant going back in time. The site of Hawaiian history and ritual retains a strong sense of the past and of place. The texture of the heiau stones and the colors of the vegetation under an ever changing sky create a kind of mysticism as well as artistic inspiration. The place is reflected in my first plein air painting.
