Modern Waikiki is the continuation of a much older village and culture. Much has changed, but the constant is Le Ahi- Diamond Head – which once overlooked  the Royal residences, now looks over the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, fondly known as “the pink lady. She represents the window to the past and present. I have loved the lady for many years. She has been the venue for family gatherings and celebrations. This view through the window struck me as saying something about the beauty of the modern place and yet evokes the mystique of Leahi overlooking it all.
